Students of ENGR 422-601, Spring 2024 class will work on implementing solutions to Sustainable Development Goals with their partners from SUPSI University in Lugano, Switzerland. Penn State engineering leadership development minor students and faculty will travel to Lugano. Switzerland, for a culminating experience based on their project in the ENGR 422 3-credit course. The week-long immersion experience will be built around proof-of-concept projects related to the SDG project developed by international student teams in ENGR 422 throughout the semester. During the immersion week, project teams will work to enhance the project solution design and construct the project solution prototype. Student teams have a chance to present their ideas to stakeholders.
This experience will provide students with an opportunity to work on an engineering problem in a culturally diverse team of engineers, the experience of developing an understanding of common goals, and communicate project solutions to end-users of diverse backgrounds. Students will also experience cultural and historical activities to further enhance cross-cultural competencies.
